Function # 3.2.4: Definitions - Adding references
Users are able to add, edit, delete and view references as required. Both administrators (Site Admin and Super Admin) are able to manipulate references. Therefore, in order to do so, they must first login using their relevant user name and password.
References can be added if the exams and exam questions are using references. It is not mandatory for the users to enter the references, it can be added if the user so wishes.
Note: The help file will only be focusing on adding references for the subjects. These same steps can be followed when adding references for subjects, tutorials and modules.
Adding references:
#1. Click the required link from the tree menu on the left side.

#2. Select the required course from the drop down menu and click 'Search'.

#3. Select the required record, and click the 'Reference' link for that particular record.

#4. To add a reference, click on the 'Add Reference' button. Since there will not be any records initially, a default error message will be displayed.

#5. Depending on the type of reference used (ex: a web site or a document), the user can select the appropriate option from the drop down menu. Enter in the relevant details and click 'Save'.
Note: The user can select the 'Link' option to specify a web site. If the reference used is a document, the user can select the 'Upload File' option.

Viewing references:
After adding the required references, click the 'Back' button (If the process of adding was successful, a confirmation message will appear next to the 'save' and 'back' buttons) and the user will be able to view the references list. If the reference given is a web site address, the user will be able to see the name of the site but if the reference given is a document, the user can view the document by clicking the 'View' link.
To view a document:
When the user clicks on the 'View' link, a new window will pop up, prompting the user to either 'open' or 'save' the document in order to view it. Therefore, if the user so wishes, he/she is able to open the document from it's current location without saving it to the users machine, the document will then be opened in a new window, as shown below. If not the user can save the document in his/her machine and view it.
